Get A Better Look

Each of my sessions as a private teacher is designed based on discussions with the student’s parents. Here are a few examples:

1) One student’s parent solely wanted me to help review for unit tests. I met with her daughter a day or two before her tests and had her work on related sample problems. I guided her through the process of solving problems that were challenging for her.

2) Another student’s parent requested that I review recommended concepts from her son’s math teacher from the previous school year as well as introduce him to new concepts he’ll find in his next-level math class.

3) A student’s parent asked me to review concepts her daughter had difficulty with during the past school year and introduce her to some concepts she would find in her next level in math to build her self-confidence.

In all of these examples, I have worked closely with each student’s parents. Working together is key to meeting the needs of each student. During my sessions, I review or teach students new concepts and have them practice the concept using a variety of educational activities such as flip cards, games, puzzles and riddles. Since I assess students’ specific needs while I observe their work during lessons, I am able to help them learn new ways to study, introduce them to alternative and more efficient ways to solve problems, boost their confidence as they successfully solve problems or offer ideas on how to approach tests. My goal is for each student to acquire enough skills to become a confident, successful, independent learner.

Testimonials

Helping Hands

“Mrs. Molnar has worked with both of my children on math. My eldest was a student for three years in an accelerated math program. She has a very strong foundational understanding of math, and has also learned accountability under Mrs Molnar's tutelage. My youngest struggles with learning differences that make math especially challenging. Mrs. Molnar was able to explain the concepts in a way that he could understand it better and also enjoy what he was working on, instead of feeling dread or anxiety connected to the subject. I hope to continue to work with Mrs Molnar in the future. ~Mrs. Bae

“Mrs. Molnar has really changed how our child has learned math up until now! Previously, it was a lot of drill and practice and less about conceptual understanding, and that’s the huge difference I see with Mrs. Molnar’s class.   She teaches for understanding. The amazing thing I have noticed is our child really wants to understand and not just plow through. Mrs Molnar uses an “exit ticket” at the end of class which is brilliant!  It ensures the kids are paying attention in class and getting the concepts without tons of busy work for homework. Mrs. Molnar’s dedication, passion and commitment are very evident!”

~Mrs. Natalucci

“ We are very grateful because your tutoring has helped my daughter to acquire confidence in her Math skills. She loves learning Math with you because your nurturing demeanor eases her learning of new Math concepts. You provided a fun yet effective learning environment for her to learn.

Thank you so much!” ~Josefina

“Arranging for Mrs. Molnar's help with our daughters' math is one of the best investments we've ever made in their education! After just one summer, one daughter was back up to grade-level work and after just a few months of school-year support, our other daughter showed vastly improved math confidence and considerably higher test scores.” ~Patty

“Mrs. Molnar is encouraging and patient. I appreciated her creativity in finding ways to solve math problems that made most sense to me.” ~Allyson

“I wish Mrs. Molnar had been my full-time Math teacher in Middle School. She showed me how to work problems in a way I could understand. I especially appreciated her help with test prep.” ~Cate
